Jared Grysko joined the RCPD in the fall of 2024 as an Access Specialist serving people that are D/deaf, hard of hearing, and those with chronic health disabilities. Jared received a Bachelor of Arts in Teaching Degree in 2007, and a Master of Arts in Teaching Degree in 2014, both in special education from Saginaw Valley State University. His endorsements include learning disabilities and emotional impairments.
Before starting at MSU, Jared worked as a special education teacher across all grade levels for two districts. He primarily worked with special education students in the inclusion setting, but also taught resource room as well. Outside of the RCPD, Jared enjoys spending time with his girlfriend, their cat Pickles, being outside and hiking, reading, watching movies, enjoying amazing food, and traveling.
Fun Facts About Jared:
What was your favorite subject in school? My favorite subjects in school were always history and social studies. I love learning about different cultures because it builds understanding, acceptance, and empathy.
Before working at MSU, what was the most unusual or interesting job you had? During college I worked as a chef at Zehnder’s of Frankenmuth. I have always enjoyed cooking, and while I was there I met many amazing people that taught me so much. There was never a dull moment with all the festivals and people.
What is your favorite music and why? I love the 80s, just so many genres to choose from. My favorite artists include David Bowie, Phil Collins, Queen, Prince, Duran Duran, Pink Floyd, Stevie Wonder, Journey, Elton John, Tears for Fears, and The Cars.
What is your favorite book and why? I enjoy anything from J.R.R. Tolkien. His attention to detail and interconnected world, along with the history, culture, and language had me hooked the first time I read one of his books.
