Michigan State University has a longstanding stewardship of providing communication access to Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing individuals and those with other communication barriers benefiting from American Sign Language interpretation and Real-Time Captioning (also known as Communication Access Realtime Translation, or CART). RCPD fulfills this commitment through both contracted and employed communication access practitioners, such as ASL interpreters and CART reporters. ASL interpreters contracted by RCPD are certified to the standards of the State of Michigan, with appropriate credentials and certifications for areas of specialty as necessary.
RCPD provides these services at no cost to students with ASL interpretation or CART service accommodations for credit-based academic courses and experiences.
