Fun Facts About Savannah Blow:
1. Where is your favorite place in the world?
This was so hard, so I chose two! Both of my parents were born and raised in South Africa and a few years ago I was lucky enough to go on a trip there! I felt so much joy while I was there, it was a beautiful country and being able to meet my family overseas was special.
I also went on my honeymoon to Iceland, and it quickly became one of my favorite places to go. It’s a place I am constantly recommending to people. There is a perfect balance of relaxation and outdoor activities. The people in Iceland are so kind, we saw so many puffins and whales, and the food was amazing!
2. Before working at MSU, what was the most unusual or interesting job you had?
When I was in college, I worked part-time in the bakery at a popular grocery store down south called Publix! If you ask any southerner, they will tell you that Publix isn’t just a grocery store, it’s an experience! I had so much fun decorating cakes and baking cookies during my time there. From their “pub subs” to their free cookies, Publix is a pleasure to shop at. Be sure to check one out if you ever visit the south!
3. What is your favorite music and why?
I’ve been a big Swiftie since I was a kid! My Spotify wrapped every year is some variation of Taylor Swift (always #1), Phoebe Bridgers, Sufjan Stevens, Noah Kahan, Beyonce, and Harry Styles! This year I'm expecting to add Chappell Roan to that list! I love a good mainstream artist!
4. Name a hidden talent, or one unknown fact about you.
I am a very crafty person and during lockdown in 2020 I picked up quilting/sewing as a hobby! I had no prior experience sewing, but it became an instant passion of mine. I have so much fun choosing a project, figuring out what fabrics to choose and watching the quilt come together. I mostly make quilts and bags, but my ideas are always endless. I draw a lot of inspiration from the world around me when I’m creating, and it’s my favorite form of self-care!
