The RCPD is thrilled to announce that our very own Annika Arney, Assistive Technology Manager, was awarded the Student Employee of the Year this spring. The competition was full of excellent student employees from different departments all throughout MSU’s campus, but Annika’s professionalism, kindness, and expertise set her apart in the eyes of the judging committee. Annika has been working at the RCPD since Fall 2021, supporting RCPD students explore assistive technology options, trialing new programs, and managing a Tower Guard impact team focused on finding and sharing new, accessible technologies. Tesia Freer, RCPD BVI Specialist and Annika’s supervisor, stated in the nomination letter, “Annika is accountable for her work, diligent in her assigned duties, and actively seeks out additional responsibilities to create a large, positive impact. She has become a pillar of support for students, staff, faculty, and RCPD specialists alike.”
The RCPD is so proud of Annika, and we are beyond grateful for her dedicated work for the past three years. Annika will now be in the running for the top student employee in Michigan. She graduated this April with her BA in Social Work and is pursuing her Master’s this coming fall at the University of Michigan. While she may be becoming a Wolverine, Annika will always be a Spartan that we are so proud of!
Thank you for all of your amazing work Annika!
