The University Outreach and Engagement Office of College Access Initiatives hosted its first Shades of Melanin Expo on January 19, 2024, at the Kellogg Center. This expo offered student centered resources and provided a sense of belonging to attendees that was aimed at promoting unity and positivity.
Attendees were able to connect with representatives from all over campus, advisors, tutoring professionals, various MSU offices, and organizations geared toward student belonging and success. Attendees were also able to meet outside representatives that helped with financial literacy, housing, and mental health resources. The purpose of this expo was to provide a sense of belonging to all attendees and share resources that benefit the student attendee.
MSU RCPD participated in the expo as one of the campus organizations to answer questions and offer resources that foster our mission of maximizing ability and opportunities to all Spartans.
The Office of College Access Initiatives provides academic enrichment programs to increase the number of students from disadvantaged backgrounds who complete high school and enroll in post-secondary institutions.
