Zachary French
(He/Him/His)
Born in West Philadelphia but raised in Jackson County, MI, Zach has always been passionate about supporting and advocating for those in need.
Zach earned an associate’s degree in music production & music business and has since dedicated his career to championing for the unseen and unheard populations including homeless veterans, high school students with physical & intellectual disabilities, physically & intellectually disabled prisoners reentering society from the MDOC system, and adults from all walks of life.
Zach comes from a die-hard Spartan family, before and after he married his beautiful wife, and has been cheering on the Spartans since he was a little kid. One of his favorite memories was meeting Mateen Cleaves and AJ Granger and getting his photo and basketball signed by them after MSU won the NCAA Championship in 2000.
Outside of his professional work, Zach enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. He loves trying out new restaurants, going on hikes and walks, learning new things, going to church, cooking, reading, watching Formula 1 racing, traveling, and enjoying movies.
Q: What is your favorite quote?
A: “You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So, you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future.”- Steve
Jobs, Founder of Apple
Q: What are you passionate about?
A: What I’m truly passionate about is “loving people well” and what I mean by that is I go to extreme lengths to get to know someone for who they are and come at them with the
approach of a servant’s heart. I strongly believe we were put onto this earth to help one another. So, I try to live by that code everyday with everything I do.
Q: What is your favorite book(s) and why?
A: My nerd answer would be the entire Harry Potter series, but my actual favorite book(s) is actually: “Boundaries: When to say Yes, How to Say No to take control of your life” by:
Henry Cloud & John Townsend. I believe everyone should read this book and learn how to set boundaries in life.
Book 2: (I’m a book lover) "Creativity Inc. Overcoming unseen forces that stand in your way of true inspiration" by: Ed Catmull. I believe this book is a fantastic way for any
professional or someone who wants to be a leader in their field to read simply because we all take risks in everything that we do, and we let fear take ahold of us to the point
that sometimes its debilitating. So this book is a great reminder that its okay to take risks and fail.
Q: What is your favorite music and why?
A: I’m a good old country boy; I grew up being surrounded by corn fields and learning about 4H and bailing hay from a young age. So I was raised on 90’s and early 2000’s
country. It just hits me differently. But I’ll also be partial to the classic hip hop & R&B classics as well as some reggaeton, salsa and jazz. I’m a walking jukebox basically.
Q: What is the best piece of advice you've ever been given?
A: I received from my old high school cross country and track coach; he would always tell us we can accomplish anything we truly wanted in life and that everything was simply
just a state of mind.
“If you think you are beaten, you are,
If you think that you dare not, you don't,
If you'd like to win, but you think you can't,
It's almost certain you won't.
If you think you'll lose, you've lost,
For out in the world, you'll find
Success begins with a fellow's will—
It's all in the state of mind."
